22 GISB suspects charged are also under Sosma investigations, says IGP

PUTRAJAYA: The 22 suspects linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) that were charged on Wednesday (Oct 23) are also being investigated under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the 22 charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code at the Selayang Sessions Court for being organised crime members were among 60 suspects that are being investigated under Sosma.

“Those that haven’t finished their remand period we will still investigate. Those that have finished we have given police bail.

“There are also those at large that we are still pursuing,” Razarudin said when met at the Home Ministry on Wednesday.

Among those charged were GISB chief executive officer, his wife Datin Azura Md Yusof, and the son of Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad, Adib At-Tamimi.

On claims that there had been those who were spying on shelters harbouring children linked to GISB, he said that the police would look into the matter.

“There are many safe houses so we will investigate the matter,” he said.

The matter was previously raised by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri who previously said that the ministry had detected instances of individuals lurking outside shelters for children rescued from GISB centres.
