Selangor Sultan again expresses sadness over abuse of kids


SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has once again expressed his disappointment over the abuse and neglect of children linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB).

Through a post on the Facebook of the Royal Selangor Office, His Royal Highness said it shows that GISB does not understand that children have rights that need to be treated with respect.

The Sultan said children have the right to live in a peaceful and safe environment and away from crimes such as molestation, sodomy, abuse, forced marriage and divorce, forced labour, being separated from their parents, and forced to claim they are orphans.

Sultan Sharafuddin said he shared the essence of yesterday’s Friday sermon “Kenapa GISB Buat Begini Kepada Kanak-Kanak?” (Why Did GISB Do This to Children?), which was delivered in mosques in Selangor, Bernama reported.

The sermon reminded the community that it is their responsibility to protect children’s dignity and welfare.

It also emphasised the important roles of parents, guardians and charitable organisations in shaping a bright future for children by creating a safe and nurturing environment.

Sultan Sharafuddin, who performed yesterday’s Friday prayers at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, called on Muslims to love and treat children with love.

On Sept 21, the Sultan expressed his sadness at the news related to the police investigation into the activities of GISB and its network.

In this regard, His Royal Highness decreed that all charitable homes and Islamic schools under the control of GISB and its network that are not registered or suspected to be involved in criminal activities be closed immediately and not be allowed to operate in Selangor as a measure to prevent children from continually being abused.
