After Anwar's open invitation, Tian Chua hopes PKR will reinstate him as a member

PETALING JAYA: Former PKR vice-president Chua Tian Chang, better known as Tian Chua, wants the party to reinstate his membership, instead of him submitting a new application to rejoin.

"I am not doing a new application. It's up to the party to (restore) my membership," the former Batu MP said, adding that he had yet to contact anyone from the party regarding his status.

He attended the PKR Congress in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, last weekend and expressed his readiness to return.

He was sacked from PKR in 2023 after contesting as an independent candidate against the party in GE15.

His response came after party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended an open invitation to former party veterans and members who had drifted away to return, while apologising to those who felt sidelined.

It was also reported that another former vice-president, Datuk Dr Xavier Jayakumar, had confirmed his return to the party.

The former water, land and natural resources minister quit the party in 2021 to support Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s Perikatan Nasional government as an independent MP.
