Fatal accident case again at danger spot in Melaka

JASIN: Melaka's "killer stretch" along Jalan Gapam-Bemban here claimed another victim today (Sept 15) where a 29-year-old housewife was killed on the spot after the car she was travelling in as a passenger rammed into a tree.

The crash was similar to previous accidents at the same spot where the driver or motorcyclist would lose control of their vehicle before ramming into a giant tree.

Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Ahmad Jamil Radzi identified the victim as Nur Ayuni Raman who succumbed to head injuries in the 8.30am accident.

He said the victim was on her way to Ayer Keroh with her husband Muhammad Bustaman Ismail when the latter lost control of his car before crashing into the same tree.

He said the 29-year-old husband was seriously injured and was being treated at Melaka Hospital.

DSP Ahmad Jamil said a female relative to one of his officers from the district traffic division was also killed in the same manner at the spot last year where her car rammed into the same giant tree.

On Jan 30, last year two siblings were killed when the motorcycle they were travelling in rammed into a tree at the same stretch.

The 20-year-old rider and his sister, 18, succumbed to severe head injuries.

On Jan 25, last year, a 43-year-old lady driver died after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into the same tree.

The victim who works at a factory in Shah Alam was on her way to the bus terminal at Melaka Tengah at 5.45am on the day of the accident.

Melaka police have included the stretch as among the 13 accident-prone roads in the state.
