A NEWLYWED man in India met an unexpected ending when he was ambushed by his wife’s brothers, Makkal Osai reported.

Jagjit Singh, from Punjab, eloped with his girlfriend, Jashanpreet Kaur, and married her in mid-July despite her family’s objection.

A few days ago, Jashanpreet’s mother called Jagjit from a bus station near the couple’s home, apparently asking him to pick her up as she wanted to visit them.

Jagjit, who was thrilled to hear from his mother-in-law, went to the bus station to welcome her.

When he arrived, his brothers-in-law attacked him, stabbing and slashing him more than 80 times.

Jagjit died at the scene.

A bystander who tried to intervene was also injured but managed to restrain one of the attackers, who was arrested by police at the scene.

Police are searching for the other suspect and investigating the mother-in-law’s possible involvement in the killing.
