ACTRESS Datin Intan Najuwa (pic) is unfazed by Internet users’ comparisons of her to cartoon character Olive Oyl, the companion of titular character Popeye, after the actress began sporting a shorter hairdo, Kosmo! reported.
“I don’t care if people want to liken me to Popeye’s lover or even other characters. I’m pleased with my haircut and did not use other people’s money for it,” she said.
She said her new look did not affect other people’s livelihoods.
“What’s important is I’m at peace and not holding any grudges,” she added.
Intan also advised others to mind their manners and learn to give constructive criticism.
> Kosmo! also reported that director Shuhaimi Lua wanted to breathe new life into the mythical pontianak, a vampiric ghost from Malay folktales, by introducing a larger version of it through his movie Pontianak 200 Kilogram.
He said he also wanted to break the cliche of horror films featuring that banshee-like creature.
“Society is constantly shown images of a slender and beautiful pontianak, but we don’t even know what it is supposed to look like.
“I wanted a larger creature which also celebrates diversity in local films,” he added.
> Actor Harris Annuar claimed he has been affected by what he described as “black magic” that was initially aimed at his mother, Harian Metro reported.
He said he has often been seeing manifestations of a pocong (shrouded ghost) for the longest time.
“Sometimes, I would see a shadow entity and even the pocong. Maybe it’s because I’m close to my mother,” he added.
On the supposed black magic targeted at his mother, Harris said it has been going on for a long time.
“There are times where people may pass her store but they don’t realise it’s there. My mother has also been on the receiving end of things since 2016,” he claimed.
