Couple who wanted baby boy poison newborn girl

A COUPLE in Tamil Nadu, India, were arrested for killing their baby daughter with poison because they had wanted a boy instead, Malaysia Nanban reported.

When their second child also turned out to be a girl, painter Jeeva, 30, and his wife Diana, 25, fed poisoned milk to their days-old child.

Jeeva then buried the baby behind their house.

Diana’s father, who found out about the matter, reported it to the police.

The remains were exhumed and an autopsy was conducted, which revealed the truth.

A local resident identified only as Bathumalai said he had noticed the waste material in the cemetery compound on Thursday and informed Seri Tanjung assemblyman Dr G. Rajasekaran about it.

Rajasekaran then advised him to lodge a police report, he added.

He urged the authorities to quickly find and punish those responsible.
