Ipoh council to act on soil subsidence claims in Bercham, says mayor

IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) will look into complaints by residents of Taman Tasek Indra in Bercham over soil subsidence issues in the area.

Ipoh mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said the council would investigate the matter and take immediate action if necessary.

"This may involve other departments such as the Public Works Department and others.

"MBI's engineering department will be sent to inspect the area," he said after presenting MBI's 2025 budget here on Friday (Aug 30).

"We will issue a notification once there's an update," he added.

Recently, area residents claimed soil subsidence was occurring around internet cable poles, causing instability.

The residents believe the weak soil structure was also causing cracks in their homes and said complaints had been lodged with no action taken so far.
