QuickCheck: Is it true a sinkhole appeared in Kampung Attap, KL?

WITH the two sinkholes that have formed in the area around Jalan Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur, it is logical that any rumours emerging about another sinkhole forming in the city would go viral very rapidly regardless of its actual truth.

Two photos went viral recently along with a claim that a sinkhole has formed along Jalan Dewan Bahasa, Kampung Attap in Kuala Lumpur. Is this true?

VERDICT:

FALSE

In a statement on its official Facebook account, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) denied the claim, acknowledging that it has gone viral.

"The photos are old photos and show repair work being done on the road that has already been completed. The public is advised to not share untrue information as it can cause worry in the public," said DBKL.
