Dr Wee urges MCA Melaka to maintain political momentum


PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has urged the party's Melaka chapter to focus on maintaining Barisan Nasional and MCA's political strength in the state.

While officiating this year's MCA Melaka Convention on Saturday (Aug 24), Dr Wee noted that BN achieved outstanding results in the 2021 state polls, winning 21 out of the 28 seats.

"I urged Melaka MCA, including both its leadership and grassroots members, to focus all efforts on preparing for the upcoming elections, particularly the Melaka state election, to maintain the political strength of BN and MCA in Melaka," he said in a Facebook post.

He also highlighted the importance of actively and effectively recruiting new members, especially among the youth and women.

"A large and active membership involved in various political efforts is also a symbol of the party's strength in the political arena," he said.

Among those who were also present at the state convention were MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng, MCA Wanita chief Wong You Fong, MCA Melaka chairman Datuk Lim Ban Hong, and other senior party leaders.
