Fortune teller detained for rape in Puchong


SEPANG: A 34-year-old man, believed to be a fortune teller, was detained for allegedly raping a woman in Puchong.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Yusof said the victim, a local woman, lodged a police report at about 1.54am on Friday (Aug 16), claiming she was raped in Puchong.

"The woman had sought the suspect through social media. She believed he could tell her fortune and rid her of her bad luck," he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 17).

The suspect was subsequently detained at about 11.15pm on Friday in Puchong, he said.

"He has been remanded until Wednesday (Aug 21).

"We are investigating the case under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape," he said.

ACP Wan Kamarul Azran advised the public not to speculate on the case or share unverified news on the incident.
