Cops nab three for drug trafficking in Pasir Gudang


JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested three individuals, including a woman, during a raid on a house in Pasir Gudang for allegedly trafficking drugs.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the raid was conducted at 2.30pm on Monday (Aug 12) by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID).

"Two men and a woman aged between 27 and 38 were arrested for being in possession of various drugs and weapons," he said adding that the men were brother and the woman was the girlfriend of one of the men.

"The house is also believed to have been used as a base for drug trafficking," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 14).

Supt Mohd Sohaimi added that the confiscated items include an airsoft gun containing nine metal pellets, a transparent packet containing 894g of metal pellets, three air pump cylinders, a kerambit knife, a slingshot rifle, and a sword.

"As for drugs, we confiscated transparent packets containing 122 yaba pills, three ecstasy pills, 24.3g heroin, 12.75g syabu, and 83 Erimin-5 pills, all worth RM6,531," he added.

All suspects are currently under remand for seven days, starting on Aug 13. Background checks revealed that all suspects have priors involving drugs and crime.

The case is being investigated under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960 for possessing or carrying arms and ammunition without a license, Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 for possession of a dangerous weapon, and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act for drug trafficking.
