THE murder of a Tamil Nadu lawyer on a public road in broad daylight shocked the state, reported Malaysia Nanban.

When S. Udaya Kumar, 48, left the house for a case, his wife Dr Nithiyavalli did not notice anything amiss. The lawyer was travelling in his own car with several other people.

Midway through the journey, the men in the car pushed the lawyer out and attacked him with sickles and knives before fleeing.

Shocked witnesses reported the incident to the police who were only able to retrieve his body and send it for an autopsy.

Police have set up six special teams to identify and apprehend the killers.

> A book celebrating local artist Sivam Selvaratnam’s life journey was launched on the 10th anniversary of her passing, the daily also reported.

The book – Sivam Selvaratnam: A Life in Art – was launched by former international trade and industry minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz at the National Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur recently.
