Eight vehicles trapped in Klang Valley flash floods


KUALA LUMPUR: Eight vehicles were trapped in flash floods at several locations across the Klang Valley on Wednesday (May 6) afternoon.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said it received emergency calls regarding flash floods in Jalan Awan Kecil, Taman OUG, Sri Petaling; Jalan Kuchai Lama heading towards Jalan Klang Lama; and the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway tunnel heading towards Sri Petaling.

The incident in Jalan Awan Kecil involved five vehicles trapped, and the Sri Petaling Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 4.23pm.

"In Jalan Kuchai Lama, two vehicles were reported trapped, and we received a distress call at 3.57pm,” the statement read.

A vehicle was also reported trapped in the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway tunnel heading towards Sri Petaling due to waterlogging.

"Personnel conducted monitoring in the surrounding areas to ensure the situation was under control and no casualties were reported,” the department said. — Bernama
