Fuel prices May 7-13: Diesel, unsubsidised RON95 up five sen, RON97 unchanged

KUALA LUMPUR: The retail prices of unsubsidised RON95 petrol and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will rise by five sen, while RON97 remains at RM4.90 per litre from May 7-13.

The Finance Ministry said that the retail price of unsubsidised RON95 is set at RM4.02 per litre compared to RM3.97 previously, while diesel in Peninsular Malaysia has risen to RM5.17 per litre compared to RM5.12 last week.

During the same period, the government maintains targeted subsidised prices for the public and certain sectors, covering RON95 petrol (under Budi95) at RM1.99 per litre, diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan at RM2.15 per litre, the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) at RM2.05 per litre and the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) at RM2.15 per litre.

The ministry said that price adjustments are based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula, which takes into account the average price of the previous week.

"Petroleum prices remain above US$100 per barrel as the Middle East conflict remains unresolved.

"This situation is also creating global supply constraints for crude oil and petroleum products and the problem is becoming more acute as production and refining facilities in the region suffer damage," read the statement on Wednesday (May 6).

The government also called on the public to continue using fuel prudently to help safeguard the nation's supply stability. – Bernama
