Sibu gears up to host Sukma athletes

SIBU: The city is ready to host badminton, volleyball, and football competitions during this year’s Malaysia Games (Sukma), says Deputy Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee.

"We are ready and excited to receive guests from other parts of Malaysia for these three sports categories. There are just a few final touches left to complete," he said after flagging off the Seberkas Pelawan 722 Run For Sarawak programme in conjunction with the Sarawak Day celebration on Sunday (July 21).

"Let's give our guests from other regions a great impression of Sibu. Welcome them warmly and show them the hospitality of the people of Sibu," he added.

The 21st Sukma will be held from August 12 to 27 in Sarawak.

In Sibu, badminton events will be held at the Sibu Indoor Stadium; volleyball events will be held at the Rejang Park Volleyball Court and football events will be held at Stadium Tun Zaidi Adruce and Azman Hashim Community Sports Centre.
