Cops probe into school bullying incident

IPOH: An investigation has started into a bullying incident involving girls at a secondary school in Kerian, says Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Perak police chief said a girl, aged 13, was brought into a toilet in the school where she was slapped by two girls, both 15.

“The incident is believed to have stemmed from jealousy because the victim is said to be close to one of the alleged bullies’ boyfriend, also 15, at the same school,” Comm Mohd Yusri said, adding that the victim lodged a report yesterday.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 10.30am on June 14, he said in a statement yesterday.

A one-minute, 21-second video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

The incident is believed to have taken place at SMJK Krian in Kerian, based on the T-shirts the girls were wearing.

In the footage, two girls took turns slapping the victim, who was told not to cry before she was slapped but was seen wiping her tears away during the incident.

Comm Mohd Yusri called on the public not to speculate on the matter and worsen the situation.
