Hot wheels and models: Segamat businessman's swanky birthday bash goes viral

SEGAMAT: A 40-year-old man gained a lot of attention when he threw himself a big birthday bash complete with a lion dance troupe, Russian models and a luxury sport utility vehicle delivered to him in a huge transparent container.

Businessman JJ Wong said he started planning the birthday party for about 60 of his loved ones at the end of May.

“Owning the G-Class vehicle has always been my dream. I even put up a poster of the car in my room for nine years to push myself to work hard and achieve it one day.

“I only ‘dared’ to purchase the vehicle for myself after my business has stabilised, as a way of rewarding myself,” he said when interviewed.

He added that it was the car dealership’s idea to deliver the vehicle to Segamat, where he is based, using a transparent container.

Wong agreed to the arrangement as he thought it would be a thrill to have the vehicle delivered during his birthday bash at an entertainment outlet in Jalan Sia Her Yam here on Friday (June 20) night.

Photos of his party and luxury car also made rounds on social media.

Wong added that his friend, who runs a model agency, arranged for four Russian models to celebrate his birthday with him.

“Besides that, there were nine lion dances and mascots performing during the night to add an auspicious touch,” he said.

Wong added that his brother-in-law surprised him by bringing his parents from their hometown in Bahau, Negri Sembilan to Segamat for the celebration.

The businessman, who is also a Segamat Hokkien Association committee member, added that he has business dealings in oil palm and owns several chain laundromat outlets.
