Appeals Court orders Chef Wan to pay RM150,000 in damages to ex-son-in-law for defamation

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal on Thursday ordered celebrity chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail or Chef Wan to pay RM150,000 in damages to his former son-in-law Gavin Edward O’Luanaigh over defamatory publications against the latter on social media platforms.

The court’s three-member panel comprising Justices Datuk Azizah Nawawi, Datuk Lim Chong Fong and Datuk Wong Kian Kheong allowed O’Luanaigh’s appeal to overturn a High Court’s decision which had ruled that the alleged statements made by the chef were not defamatory of O’Luanaigh.
