IPOH: Perak secures RM12.3mil from the Education Ministry to fund school transformation initiatives across 123 selected primary and secondary schools starting August 2026.
Deputy director Salmah Abd Murad announced the allocation at a Perak-level School Reform Letter handover on Monday (Aug 3). Each selected school receives RM100,000 for high-impact quality programmes.
"It focuses on improving the quality of teaching and learning, strengthening school leadership, enhancing teachers' professional development and reinforcing student achievement," says Salmah.
The funding benefits 63 primary schools and 60 secondary schools across 12 state districts. Disbursements begin this month for utilisation through year-end.
Schools will organise programmes improving performance in Bahasa Melayu, English, and STEM.
"Schools are also encouraged to carry out programmes that promote students' development and strengthen the overall school environment as well as teachers' professional development,” says Salmah
The initiative forms part of the Malaysia Education Plan 2026-2035. The wider national programme involves approximately 1,500 schools.
State and district education offices identified the recipient schools under the inspiring school category. Perak Education Department Director Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar attended the event.
