Ah Niu sings of enduring Malaysia-China friendship in 50th anniversary song


PETALING JAYA: The Chinese Embassy has unveiled a new song to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China relations.

The song titled Sayang-Sayang my Dear Friend is performed by Malaysian singer Ah Niu.

The song, which is in sung in Mandarin, also features English and Malay lyrics and speaks of the half-century-long friendship between the two nations.

Part of its lyrics say:

"A genuine friendship, stands tall like a mountain and towers in the heart

Let it flow forever

Bagai alir sungai, tak ada hujung (like the unending flow of a river)"

The video also features various Malay, Chinese and Indian traditional instruments.

The song was composed by Ah Niu, with lyrics penned by both him and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) president Datuk Dr Ewe Hong Tat.
