PETALING JAYA: The government has confirmed that all Malaysians registered in Kuwait are safe after drone and missile attacks targeted the country's international airport, disrupting travel and forcing its temporary closure.
The Foreign Ministry, through the Malaysian Embassy in Kuwait, said it is closely monitoring the situation following the attacks, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday (June 3).
In a statement on Thursday (June 4), Wisma Putra said there were no reports of Malaysian nationals affected by the incident.
Kuwait International Airport was temporarily closed and all commercial flights were suspended until further notice.
The ministry said incoming flights were being diverted to King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

It said Malaysians whose travel plans have been affected by the disruption should contact their respective airlines directly for alternative arrangements and flight rescheduling.
Wisma Putra also urged Malaysians residing in or travelling through the region to remain vigilant and comply with any security instructions, movement restrictions or emergency directives issued by local authorities.
It also called on Malaysians who have yet to register their presence in Kuwait to do so immediately through the Foreign Ministry's e-Konsular portal to facilitate timely communication and assistance if required.
"The ministry will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary," the statement read.
The Malaysian Embassy in Kuwait remains available to provide consular assistance and emergency support to Malaysians in the country.
The attack reportedly left one person dead, injured 63 others and damaged parts of the airport, including Terminal 1.
