PETALING JAYA: Food poisoning at a tahfiz school in Sungai Buloh has left 27 victims ill, including senior citizens.
Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor, in a statement Sunday (June 7), said that the police had received a report on the incident in Kundang, Rawang.
"Preliminary investigations found that tahfiz students and elderly religious school students experienced symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea after consuming food obtained from an external source on June 4.
"All victims received treatment at nearby healthcare facilities and at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, and all are currently in stable conditions,” he said.
He added that a total of 27 victims, aged 13 to 84, were affected.
"The Gombak District Health Office has conducted investigations at the incident location, recorded statements, and collected food samples for laboratory analysis to determine the actual cause of the incident,” he said.
An investigation paper has also been opened by the Health Ministry.
“The police also advise any traders or individuals involved in food preparation and handling to comply with hygiene, safety, and health guidelines to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
"The public is also advised not to engage in speculation that may interfere with the authorities’ investigation,” he said.
