KKB polls: Perikatan gathering evidence for election petition, says Azmin

PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional is gathering evidence for election petition to challenge Pakatan Harapan's victory in the recent Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, says Selangor Perikatan chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had told their lawyers to gather evidence and all 16 district polling centre chiefs will be assisting the legal team.

"We will choose cases that are solid to be presented as an election petition," he said in a press conference at Perikatan's headquarters here on Monday (May 20).

Pakatan's Pang Sock Tao won the by-election after polling 14,000 votes against Perikatan's Khairul Azhari Saut's 10,131 votes.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had previously claimed that Pakatan had abused its power and misused government machinery before and during the by-election campaign.

He said Perikatan would file an election petition if Pakatan wins.
