KOTA KINABALU: The two higher learning institution students detained following the Ulu Tiram police station attack on Friday (May 17) are not under the jurisdiction of the Higher Education Ministry.

He said that the man had discontinued his studies in 2021.

“I would like to advise the younger generation, particularly students in higher learning institutions, to refrain from engaging in undesirable activities and to respect the country’s law.

“Parents should also keep a close watch on their children, supervise them, to ensure they are not influenced by external factors that are not part of our cultural practices,” Mustapha said after launching the Jom Masuk U 2024 for Sabah at the Tawau Sports Complex.

He also said the public should refrain from speculating and allow the police to investigate the case.

Mustapha also expressed condolences to the families of the two police officers killed in the incident and hoped that it would serve as a lesson for everyone.
