S'gor cops nab man over acid attack on national footballer Faisal Halim


PETALING JAYA: A man has been arrested over Sunday's (May 5) acid-splashing attack on national football player Faisal Halim.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspect is a man is in 20s.

"We will apply for a remand order against the suspect to help with further investigations.

"The motive for the attack is also under investigation," he said when contacted on Monday (May 6).

He said police have taken statements from three individuals including the victim so far.

"We will be calling several witnesses to have their statements recorded today as well," he said.

National winger Faisal Halim, who is also known as Mickey, suffered an acid attack on Sunday (May 5) at a shopping mall in Damansara.

Police received information from the public at 5.51pm that a national footballer was splashed with liquid believed to be acid when he was at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.

The reason behind the attack is also uncertain.

Images of his injury are going viral on social media and many netizens are in shock that such an incident happened to a national football player.

Just days ago, his Harimau Malaya teammate Akhyar Rashid was robbed in Kuala Terengganu last week and suffered cuts and bruises.
