Cops nab man who allegedly tied up, poured hot wax on wife

IPOH: Police have arrested a 42-year-old man who allegedly tied up his wife and poured hot wax on her as he believed she had cheated on him.

Gerik OCPD Supt Zulkifli Mahmood said the 35-year-old victim lodged a report at the Kampung Lalang police station at 1.32am on April 14, claiming she was assaulted by her husband at their house in Kampung Alai, Gerik.

"Initial investigations revealed that the victim was asleep at about 10.30pm on April 13 when her husband came home and tied up her hands while wielding a knife.

"He accused her of cheating on him and demanded that she confess.

"He also pulled on the victim's bracelet and chain until it broke before he tore her clothes, poured hot wax from a candle on her body and threatened to burn her.

"The victim denied all allegations and later pretended that she needed to use the toilet.

"She asked the suspect to untie her hands and on her way to the toilet, grabbed the car keys and escaped," Supt Zulkifli said in a statement on Monday (April 15),

He added that the victim drove to the police station and lodged a report.

He said a team was dispatched to find the suspect and nabbed the man in the house at about 8.30pm on Sunday (April 14).

Police said they seized several items, including the knife used by the suspect.

"The victim was sent to the Gerik Hospital for treatment.

"The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt under the same Code," he added.
