Negri civil servants to get RM500 for Hari Raya

SEREMBAN: Some 6,600 Negri Sembilan civil servants will receive a special payment of RM500 in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The payment, he said, would be made on Friday (April 5).

"The RM500 amount is based on our financial standing," he told reporters when met after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri on Wednesday (April 3).

He said recipients include those working in local councils and state statutory bodies.

On Monday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said federal civil servants would get RM500 as special financial assistance in conjunction with Hari Raya.

The Prime Minister said those eligible for the special financial aid are civil servants Grade 56 and below.

Anwar also announced that RM250 would be given to government retirees as well as veterans in both the pensionable and non-pensionable categories.

Several other state governments have also agreed to give out the special payment to civil servants.

Selangor public servants will receive one month's salary or a minimum of RM1,000 on April 8.

Pahang will also give RM1,000 to state employees while Penang will give them half-month's salary or a minimum of RM1,200.

Johor has also agreed to give its civil servants half-month's salary or a minimum of RM1,500.
