TWO Year One pupils, a Malay and a Chinese, walked hand in hand on their first day of school at SJK (C) Yu Hua Kajang, Sin Chew Daily reported.
An adorable photo of the duo painted a heartwarming story of true Malaysian unity.
Apprehensive on the first day of school, the young Malay pupil was crying, afraid to step past the school gate.
At this juncture, a Chinese pupil who looked equally nervous walked up and held the Malay pupil’s hand to accompany her to school.
The school posted a message on Facebook which went viral.
“Both walked in silence but were able to face their first day with each other. We hope that within the diverse school grounds, each pupil will find a safe and comfortable space,” it read.
> Kopitiam outlets in Kuala Lumpur are gradually stopping the sale of Chinese tea due to their low profit margins, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The issue generated a debate online after a kopitiam in Sri Petaling announced that it would no longer sell Chinese tea from April 1.
“Thank you for your support all this while.
“Our most economical drink will be our herbal tea,” a poster at the shop read.
According to the daily’s survey, Chinese tea costs between 70 sen and RM1.20 while the price of herbal tea is RM2.50 or higher.
