KLANG: The name of the new Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general is expected to be announced soon.
According to sources, several heavyweight names were on the list of candidates.
However, the former Paya Jaras assemblyman and lawyer, Mohd Khairuddin Othman, is said to be topping the list at the moment.
When contacted, Mohd Khairuddin said he was unsure if he was the one who would be selected.
"It's best if we wait for the minister's (Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil) announcement.
"Several names are listed, and we don't know who will be appointed," added Mohd Khairuddin.
The top J-Kom position fell vacant last Nov following the resignation of Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff.
Mohd Khairuddin was a former Selangor state executive councillor and is currently the state PKR secretary.
He first won the Paya Jaras seat in 2008 as a PAS candidate.
Mohd Khairuddin, who was a previous Selangor PAS secretary, left the Islamist party and joined PKR in 2018.
