KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and other senior leaders have been invited to MCA’s upcoming Lunar New Year open house here, says MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon.
In a statement yesterday, Chong said the open house is in keeping with the party’s long-standing tradition to celebrate with the people and their leaders.
“MCA will be hosting its Lunar New Year Open House on Feb 10 (the first day of the Lunar New Year) at 9.30am at Dewan San Choon, Wisma MCA, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us in celebrating this joyous occasion.
“The Lunar New Year is the most important traditional festival for the Chinese community. During this festive season, we hope that this Open House event will allow people from all races to partake and share in the joy of the festivities, promote understanding and dialogues between different ethnic groups, and altogether create a more harmonious, inclusive society,” said Chong.
He said MCA would like to take the opportunity to also wish that in the new year, Malaysians will be able to live in peace and contentment and for the country to be blessed with a favourable climate, bountiful harvests, political stability, and economic prosperity.
“Other distinguished guests expected to attend include leaders of the Barisan Nasional component parties, government leaders, MCA veterans, business leaders, Chinese community leaders, and foreign diplomats.
“The open house will feature a variety of activities, including the lion dance, dragon dance, street art, and traditional dances on stage. Refreshments will also be served. We welcome everyone to come and join us in the festivities.”
