Former CMP chairman Abdullah CD passes away at 100


PETALING JAYA: Former Communist Party of Malaya chairman (CPM), Abdullah CD, whose real name was Che Dat Anjang Abdullah, died on Saturday (Jan 13), at the age of 100.

Abdullah, who originally hailed from Lambor Kanan, Parit, Perak died at 9.29am in Kampung Perdamaian Sukhirin, Narathiwat, Thailand.

The news of the 10th Regiment of the Malayan People's Army founder was shared by his son-in-law, Indra Djaja Abdullah.

"Abdullah CD or real name Cek Dat Anjang Abdullah, former CPM chairman and founder of the 10th Regiment of Malayan People's Army, returned to the Almighty at 9.29 this morning in Kampung Perdamaian Sukhirin, Narathiwat Province at the age of 100 years and three months," he said through a Facebook post on Saturday.

He joined CPM in 1948 and used to receive instructions from CPM number one leader Chin Peng.

In 1989, CPM laid down their weapons and came out from the jungles at the Thai border.

They signed a peace treaty known as the Haadyai Peace Agreement, ending more than 40 years of armed conflict since the British emergency in 1948.
