KOTA KINABALU: The public are encouraged to update their information on the soon-to-be-launched national central database or Padu, for better distribution of subsidies and social aids from the government.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living minister Datuk Armizan Ali said with the amendments to subsidies and its distribution, it would be wise to update one’s personal details so that whatever assistance that was available could be given to those eligible.
"This is to ensure that no one is left out from getting the government aid that they are entitled to, and prevent those who are not eligible, from getting what they should not," he said after a family event in Papar near here, Sunday (Dec 31).
He said information updated on this platform was safe, and that no bank details would be linked to it.
Armizan said people could even appeal for subsidies or aid they did not get in the first round through Padu in future.
"For the Ministry, we will try our best to get to as many people on the grounds as possible, especially those in rural or remote areas in Sabah, to update their details," he said.
"We want to make sure that those who are eligible for subsidies get them, and those who can get the social aid, get them too," he said.
Asked if there was a risk of the site being hacked, Armizan said the government was doing all it could to prevent such an occurrence.
