THE Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) will conduct a 25-day hairstyling course for ethnic Indians, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The programme coordinator, identified only as Murai, said classes will run from Jan 10 to Feb 4 next year.
Malaysian-Indian men and women between the ages of 18 and 59 are allowed to take part in the programme, with places limited to 30 people for the first batch.
The programme will cover five skills related to hairdressing and hairstyling at zero cost to participants, he said.
Mitra will also cover the costs of lodging and meals for the entire duration, and will even provide the graduates with equipment and a certificate once they complete the course.
Indian youngsters, especially those from the B40 category, are encouraged to use the opportunity to learn this trade, said Murai.
Kannan Pazhanisamy, who owns the successful Kanna Saloon chain, will lead the programme, he added.
