GEORGE TOWN: A Penang ferry travelling from the island to the mainland has collided with another vessel.
The incident at 8.35pm on Tuesday (Sept 1) toppled several motorcycles on board and injured a few passengers.
A passenger, who declined to be named, said the ferry departed from island at 8.30pm.
"It was a hard impact and motorcycles on board fell over.
"Some people sustained light injuries and the ferry proceeded with its journey.
"Police and ambulance were at the scene in Butterworth," he said.
"Upon arriving at the mainland, the ferry turned around and used the rear entrance for passengers to exit," he said.
Authorities have yet to issue official confirmation on the incident, with the extent of damage on the ferry and severity of the victims' injuries unknown.
