PETALING JAYA: A man believed to be involved in a scuffle at the 69th National Day celebrations that caused several people to fall has been urged to report to the Putrajaya police headquarters.
Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Aidi Sham Mohamed said four police reports had been received about the incident during the celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya and that the man is needed to assist in the investigation.
The incident was captured in a Facebook video posted by an account holder named ‘Anwar Captain Goose’ detected by police, which had also gone viral on other platforms.
The two-minute, 18-second video showed a man wearing an orange or brown shirt allegedly provoking and pushing several people who were waiting for gates to the seating area to open.
“This resulted in pushing and shoving, causing several individuals to fall.
“The incident is believed to have occurred at about 5am on Monday (Aug 31),” ACP Aidi Sham said in a statement on Tuesday.
He also urged members of the public with information on the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
