PETALING JAYA: The issue of Selangor DAP's Datuk Ng Suee Lim's acceptance of a state award will be discussed by the party's central executive committee (CEC), says Anthony Loke.

The party secretary-general confirmed that discussions have been held with Ng, who is Sekinchan assemblyman and Selangor local government and tourism committee chairman on the matter.

"I have told him to bring the matter to the knowledge of the Selangor DAP committee and it will also be discussed at the next CEC meeting," Sinar Harian quoted Loke as saying after the Federal Territory DAP Convention 2023 on Sunday (Dec 17).

Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah bestowed the Darjah Kebesaran-Darjah Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS) which carries the title 'Datuk' on Ng.

Ng was among 97 who received the award and recognition during the Sultan's birthday recently.

The CEC had earlier reprimanded two DAP representatives from Sabah, Datuk Chan Foong Hin (Kota Kinabalu MP) and Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe (Luyang assemblyman) for receiving state awards.

DAP has a policy prohibiting its leaders from accepting any titles while serving as elected representatives.
