MACC seize four gold bars in Aman Palestin raid, says sources

PUTRAJAYA: Four gold bars were among items seized during a series of raid as graft investigators look into allegations of misappropriation of funds within Aman Palestin Berhad.

Sources said the gold bars that were seized weighed a kilogramme each and were of Grade 999.9.

It is learnt that the raids were carried out on Nov 24 and raiding teams had gone to five locations, including Aman Palestin’s office.

Investigators also took away three laptops and four handphones.

Sources said investigators had also started summoning individuals for their statement to be recorded.

The Star is trying to reach out to Aman Palestin for comments.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that multiple raids were carried out as part of on-going investigation on the case.

He said that a total of 11 individuals had been summoned for questioning to date.

"We are making good progress in this case," he said without elaborating further.

On Nov 23, the MACC had said that over RM25mil in 42 bank accounts under Aman Palestin were frozen.

The freezing was carried out after the MACC investigated allegations of Aman Palestin misusing public donations.
