Jogger hurt in pre-dawn snatch theft attempt in Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: A jogger at a housing area in Seksyen 27 here was left injured and bleeding after a struggle with a would-be snatch thief Thursday (Nov 9) morning.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said in a statement on Friday (Nov 10) that the 30-year-old victim was exercising outdoors at 5.50am when a motorcyclist approached him.

"The suspect was brandishing a machete and... tried to snatch the victim's bag.

"However, the victim fought back, which led to him getting injured by the suspect," he said.

No losses were recorded as the theft was unsuccessful.

The victim was treated at Hospital Shah Alam and his sister filed a police report on Thursday night, ACP Mohd Iqbal added.

"Efforts to trace the suspect are under way. This is the first time (a snatch theft has been reported in) this area... it is not a known hotspot," he said.
