Official: GPS wins Jepak by landslide


BINTULU: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Iskandar Turkee has won the Jepak by-election.

Returning officer Abang Zainuddin Abang Turkey made the announcement at 8.30pm on Saturday (Nov 4), saying that Iskandar had garnered 9,638 votes to win by a majority of 8,784.

Parti Bumi Kenyalang candidate Stevenson Joseph Sumbang received 854 votes while Chieng Lea Phing of the Sarawak People's Aspiration Party received 431 votes in the three-way contest.

The Election Commission also said that turnout for the Jepak by-election was at 48.57% at the close of polls.
