Cops waiting for AGC's decision on Jasmine Loo, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is waiting for the decision from the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) should former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) lawyer Jasmine Loo be prosecuted.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said police have concluded its investigations on Loo under Section 409 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust.

"The investigation paper has been handed over to the AGC and we are waiting for their decision (on further action to be taken)," he told a press conference at Bukit Aman on Tuesday (Oct 10).

The police, through Bukit Aman's Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID), are still working to recover 1MDB assets as revealed by Loo

"We are working with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to recover the assets worth RM93.2mil including buildings in Singapore and paintings in the US," he said.

It was reported in September that millions in assets bought by Loo using 1MDB money would be returned.

Deputy IGP Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay had said that police investigations showed Loo has assets in several countries, including the United States, Switzerland and Singapore.

“We believe these assets were paid using money syphoned from 1MDB," he added.

Ayob Khan said police were in the midst of completing the full seizure of several other assets linked to her, including two Pablo Picasso paintings and an apartment in London.

“The value of the assets at the time of purchase was listed as RM93,266,291 in 2013, but the value could be much higher now," he said.
