Elmina crash: Police record statements from three dashcam owners


KLANG: The police have recorded the statements of three owners of dashboard cameras (dashcams) who were at the scene of the plane crash near Bandar Elmina in Shah Alam on Thursday (Aug 17), says Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

He added that while the police are investigating the case as a sudden death, the crash itself is being investigated by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau.

"I request that witnesses to the incident come forward to give statements to complete the investigation," he said at press conference on the plane crash at the Forensic Department of Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital on Sunday (Aug 20).

On Saturday (Aug 19), the remains of Muhamad Hafiz Muhamad Saleh, 32, a p-hailing rider who died in the crash, were buried at the Masjid Al-Huda Islamic Cemetery, Kampung Jerung, Sungai Petani, Kedah at 4pm.

This was followed on Sunday with the remains of nine other crash victims being handed over to their next-of-kin.

On Thursday (Aug 17) 10 people, including eight people on board a light aircraft were killed after the plane crashed near the Elmina Township in Selangor.

An e-hailing driver and a food delivery rider on the road were killed when the plane crashed.

The incident occurred at about 2.40pm after the aircraft, which took off from Langkawi, was cleared to land at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang.
