State polls: Stay calm and professional at all times, IGP tells cops

KUALA LUMPUR: All police personnel and officers carrying out their duty during the coming state elections must be professional and rational while in the field, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector-General of Police said all the men and women in the police force should also be smart in controlling their emotions when facing any provocation.

"I believe everyone in the police force is fully ready to give the best service during the state elections.

"While we are focused on carrying out our duties, health and safety must be a priority as well.

"The leadership of the police force will ensure the welfare of personnel and officers is taken care of," he said in his speech during Bukit Aman's monthly assembly here on Thursday (July 20).

The IGP previously said a total of 9,602 additional police officers and personnel will be deployed to assist in the state elections on Aug 12 in Selangor, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
