Gunman fires five shots at Kuala Kurau house, family of six unharmed


IPOH: The police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly fired a gun five times at a house in Kuala Gula, Kuala Kurau.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the man, who was on a motorcycle, shot at the house around 3am on Tuesday (July 4).

"We found bullet holes in a car, a motorcycle, and the house windows," he said in a statement.

"We also found five 9mm bullet casings scattered near the house."

Comm Mohd Yusri said the occupants of the house, a family of six, were awakened by the gunshots but were unharmed.

The house owner was a 56-year-old cockle farm operator, he added.

"Their neighbour called the police after hearing loud noises.

“We are trying to determine the motive for the incident," he said, adding that the case will be investigated under Section 39 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.

"Those with information can contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Zulhilmi Dahon at 013-260 4403 or go to the nearest police station,” he added.
