Missing girl found with multiple injuries

GEORGE TOWN: The five-year-old girl who was reported missing in Penaga was found about 2km away with multiple injuries.

However, police have so far ruled out foul play.

Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said when the girl was reported missing on Saturday after leaving her home in Taman Kuala Muda on Friday afternoon, police launched an operation involving the Fire and Rescue Department and local residents.

“The public found the girl in a weak condition by the road in Permatang Keriang at about 6pm on Saturday.

“She was immediately sent to the Kepala Batas Hospital, where she was found to have a fractured jaw, along with scratch marks on her chin and back of her head, bruises on body and two broken teeth.

“The cause of the injuries is being investigated but she is still traumatised. We have yet to find signs of foul play,” Khaw said at press conference yesterday.

He urged those with information to assist in investigations.
