Jelebu school urgently needs funds for repairs, MP tells Education Ministry

JELEBU: The Education Ministry has been urged to quickly approve a budget for SK Undang Jelebu to carry out repairs, says Jelebu MP Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias.

The Negri Sembilan Umno liaison committee chairman and former federal territories deputy minister, who visited the school after getting complaints from parents, said it was in need of urgent repairs and upgrading.

"The condition is really bad.

"A section of the ceiling at the canteen has collapsed and become a hazard.

"The tables and chairs in many classes are damaged. Even the floor in some classrooms is cracked," he said in a statement on Friday (May 26).

Jalaluddin said the air-conditioning in the teachers' room was also not functioning and the tables provided to them were old and insufficient.

He said to ensure the safety of the 603 pupils, he decided to appoint a contractor to carry out repair works at the canteen.

“It is my hope that the allocation sought by the school is approved soon,” he added.
