"ME20 recorded 223 new cases against 218 cases registered in the ME19," he said in a statement.
Ling said the Johor Baru district had the highest cases with 161, Kulai with 33, Batu Pahat and Kota Tinggi each with six cases, Kluang and Segamat each has five, Muar with four, two in Pontian and Tangkak with one case.
He added there were six cumulative deaths from ME1 to ME20 this year compared with zero deaths in the corresponding period in 2022.
"We have issued 2,530 compound notices totalling RM1.21mil so far this year to premises owners found to be breeding places of Aedes mosquitoes and 58.8% of them had paid the fines," said Ling.
Separately, he said Johor recorded 400,211 Covid-19 cumulative cases as of Saturday (May 20), of which 397,164 were local infections while 3,047 were imported cases.
Ling said there were 151 Covid-19 positive cases reported in the past seven days with 75 patients undergoing home quarantine, 71 were hospitalised and five admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
"Statistics showed we did not record a drastic increase in Covid-19 cases in Johor in the recent months and hospital usage in the state was still under 5%," he said.
Ling said as of Saturday (May 20), Johor recorded 384 Covid-19 subvariant XXB cases and four subvariant XBB 1.16 cases.
He said of the 384 Covid-19 subvariant cases, there were 214 cases in Johor Baru, Muar (39), Batu Pahat (24), Kluang (24), Kota Tinggi (21), Tangkak (14), Pontian with 13 cases and two in Segamat.
"The Covid-19 cases in the state are still under control although there are reports of the subvariant XXB cases," said Ling.
