JOHOR BARU: Sacked Umno leaders can continue their struggle in Perikatan Nasional, says state deputy chief Mohd Solihan Badri.

He said former Umno politicians who are not aligned with party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi can use Perikatan as their platform to continue to fight for the Malay community and uphold the importance of Islam.

“Those sacked or suspended for working with Pakatan Harapan also do not need to wait until the state elections - they can come to Perikatan," added Mohd Solihan.

He added that the spirit and stance of many Umno leaders nationwide should not be buried after they stop being party members or have had their membership suspended.

“With the recent call for Umno members to vote for DAP candidates in the upcoming six state election, it shows that the Umno president has gone against his principles and betrayed the members’ and supporters’ mandate once again,” he said in a statement on Sunday (May 21).

Mohd Solihan urged the Umno grassroots to stop Ahmad Zahid’s actions, which he claimed are "selling the dignity of Malay politics in the modern era".

He added the grassroots should feel bad for allowing the situation go bad in Johor and the country.

“Come be with Perikatan as we must stick together and break DAP’s political strategy, which has a strong influence in Pakatan and current government,” he said, adding that former Umno secretary general Tan Sri Annuar Musa has joined PAS with about 1,000 others.
