'One thousand others are joining PAS with me,' claims Annuar Musa

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Ketereh MP Tan Sri Annuar Musa claims that one thousand others will be joining PAS with him.

Speaking to the media at the Muafakat Nasional Hari Raya open house at Plaza Damas here on Saturday (May 20), the former communications and multimedia minister said he was waiting for approval from PAS' top leadership for them to join the party.

"It is not ten Umno members only as reported but a thousand others who have applied alongside me to join PAS," he said, adding that they will know the decision in the second week of June.

Annuar said he was ending his six-month political hiatus as the country needed better leadership with "the right numbers".

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had stated on May 18 that Annuar had sent in his PAS membership form along with 10 others.

Also seen at the Muafakat Nasional open house were former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and a few former cabinet members.

Ismail, the Bera MP, did not speak to the media and merely posed for pictures with the public.

He was accompanied by Opposition leader and former home minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

Also present were Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Yaakob with Kota Baru MP and former minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

Muafakat Nasional, a non-governmental organisation, was formed by Annuar after he was booted out of Umno.
