Any inadequacies in govt must be fixed immediately, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: The government must make immediate changes to fix any inadequacies through transformation, reform or other measures, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, said the unity government had to resolve its problems and be responsive, progressive, inclusive and attentive to the wants and needs of the people.

"The people must be prioritised and we must close ranks for political stability so we can focus on developing the economy, which will benefit the people and the country," he said during the inaugural unity government convention at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (May 14).

Dr Wee added that MCA had always been consistent in fighting for the rights and interests of the people.

"Even though our membership is race-based, MCA has always been the pioneer in promoting the power sharing concept, even before the country's independence.

"MCA will always play its role as the muhibbah or unity agent that ensures peace and harmony amongst the people for the country's stability.

"Without peace, our country will be in chaos. Our people will be divided and the economy will not develop and eventually, the people will suffer," he said.

More than 8,000 invited guests from 19 component parties of the Unity Government attended the convention here.
